Freedb is dead, long live freedb !

For those who don’t know freedb it was THE database for compact disc track listings. Using freedb everyone could rip his CD and get the title, artists, album and other tags automatically filled in the output files. A very practical tool is now gone, but all is not gone.

There is another service ready to take the helm. This service is Musicbrainz.

Sadly it’s not using the old freedb protocol, so I have to switch to another software to retag my audio files.

The software is MusicBrainz Picard. Even if there’s a learning curve, I’m happy to have made the switch. The informations in the database are really really more accurate.
